A Safety Net

Many of us would like to be able to look after our parents in our homes when they get older, but for many people it is not an option and that is why live in care for the elderly and disabled is so important to so many people.

Many of us have to work long hours and it is just not possible practically or financially to take care of our parents, however much we want to. Live in care is a good option as it allows the elderly person to continue living in their own home and enjoy a higher level of independence than they would in a residential home.

The downside is that live in care is often more expensive as the person needs a dedicated carer. Many families cannot afford this even with financial assistance. But if this can be solved, then the elderly person will enjoy a higher quality of life.

It is distressing to be moved out of your home when you have lived in it for so many years. This way, the person lives in their own home, surrounded by their precious memories and possessions.

It also means that families and friends are still close by, rather than if they are in a home which may be hundreds of miles away, and they can entertain people whenever they want.
